Replacing which part of Lansweeper?
Lansweeper covers several jobs. OnTrackio replaces one of them well and the others not at all, so here is the straight answer for each, with somewhere useful to go when the answer is no.
Asset register, custody and audit evidence
Yes, this is the job OnTrackio is built for. Hardware and licence inventory, who holds what, what came back at offboarding, and the register exported as NIS2 Article 21(2) or SOC 2 evidence. Public pricing starts at EUR 2,400 a year for 500 devices.
Network monitoring, SNMP polling, switches and printers
No. OnTrackio has no network scanner and speaks no SNMP. Discovery comes from an endpoint agent, so a device without the agent is only in the register if a person or an import put it there. If sweeping subnets is the job you are replacing, keep a scanning tool for it.
Open source, or free
No. OnTrackio is cloud SaaS with no free tier and no self-hosted edition. If open source is the requirement, Snipe-IT is the honest answer, and that comparison is hands-on: we ran an instance rather than reading its docs.
Linux endpoints
Partly. The register holds Linux machines like any other asset, but the agent is signed for macOS and Windows only, so on Linux there is no automatic hardware detail and no software-usage data. A Linux-heavy fleet gets a register you maintain by import.
Managing many client estates as an MSP
Not from one console. Each customer is an isolated workspace with its own database, which is the right answer for their data and the wrong one for an MSP wanting a single pane. There is a referral partner programme instead, where the client holds the workspace and you hold the relationship.

Is OnTrackio a direct Lansweeper replacement?
For most mid-market fleets, yes. If your estate is mostly managed laptops and SaaS, the endpoint agent IS the discovery: it reports what exists and keeps the register reconciled daily, and OnTrackio replaces Lansweeper outright as the system of record. The honest exception is network-heavy estates: OnTrackio has no network scanner, so if the core job is sweeping subnets for switches, printers, and OT devices, that specific job stays with a scanning tool.
Why are mid-market teams looking for Lansweeper alternatives?
Not price, and an earlier version of this page wrongly said it was. Lansweeper publishes a free tier for 100 assets and Starter at €270, $299 or £245 a month, billed annually, for 2,000 assets, so leaving on cost usually means paying more. The reason that holds up is fit: many teams discover they were using a fraction of a discovery platform to answer custody questions it was never designed around.
Can we migrate our Lansweeper inventory into OnTrackio?
Yes. Export your asset list from Lansweeper and use the importer: it maps hardware, users, and assignment fields from CSV, alongside dedicated importers for Snipe-IT and other tools. The endpoint agent then takes over keeping rows current, which is the part a one-time import can never do.
Do we need both tools?
Some estates genuinely do: Lansweeper for scanning a large, heterogeneous network, OnTrackio as the custody and evidence register on top. For a fleet that is mostly managed laptops and SaaS, one custody-first system with an agent usually covers the whole question at a fraction of the operational surface.

How do OnTrackio and Lansweeper compare to other Lansweeper competitors on price?
Lansweeper is not the expensive option, and neither are most of its competitors. Quoting each vendor in the currency it publishes, at around 500 assets: Snipe-IT is free self-hosted or 399.99 US dollars a year hosted with no asset limit, InvGate Asset Management Starter is 1,499 US dollars a year for 500 IP devices, and ManageEngine AssetExplorer is 1,795 US dollars a year on-premises for 500.
